A late-summer heatwave marked 2015 as a richer vintage for our estate, with round, juicy fruit and excellent aromatic concentration. At ten years old this wine is in its prime, beaming with brilliant intensity and silken fullness. The fruit-forward nose swirls with ripe red cherry, dried mint and stony earth aromas. The palate brings a luxurious surge of sweet black and brandied amarena cherries, rounded with warm, toasted notes of cognac and mixed baking spice. Mature tannins drape the fruit in sleek satin textures, while spicy cinnamon, nutmeg, anise and mint tea punctuate the midpalate, joining Terra 9’s signature stony minerality on the long, powerful finish.
2015 brought a relatively dry and warm winter in Napa Valley, which resulted in small clusters of grapes with high concentration, yielding wines with deep, rich flavors. Overall yields were low but quality was high, and the 2015 wines are currently in their prime drinking window.
