Rosé comes in many styles, but for those of us who love it, the first thing that catches the eye is the color—so many beautiful shades of pink!
But what determines the color? First, the grape varietal plays a key role. Different red grapes have varying levels of pigmentation—Grenache-based rosés tend to be a lighter pink, while Syrah or Malbec rosés take on a deeper hue. Second, the winemaking method makes a difference. The Saignée method (or “bleeding” method) involves extracting juice from red wine production, making rosé a byproduct. This often results in a more intense color and flavor. In contrast, Provençal-style rosé is made using the direct-press method, which extracts just the right amount of color and tannin. The result? A light, dry, mineral-driven wine with a signature salmon-pink hue and a perfect balance of freshness and subtle complexity.
Melinda’s Rosé is crafted in the Provençal style, inspired by Melinda Taplin’s deep love for rosé, which began in Provence. Over the years, we have remained true to her vision, using predominantly Cabernet Franc, while carefully adjusting the blend each vintage.
Lovers of our rosé appreciate its versatility—it pairs beautifully with seafood, salads, grilled meats, or can be enjoyed on its own. With its bright acidity and crisp finish, Melinda’s Rosé is the perfect companion for warm weather and outdoor gatherings. Head to our Shop to purchase the 2024 vintage.
