We grow all of our grapes on a single estate in the west bench of Appellation St. Helena. Our soil is gravelly loam that provides the perfect conditions for producing premium Cabernet Sauvignon.

Our great great grandfather, John Lewelling, came to the Napa Valley in 1864. He described our land as "nine parts rock and one part soil." In fact, that's probably why he picked it. As an experienced nurseryman, he could see that this land would produce great fruit. And he was right.  That's why we decided to call our first wine terra 9.
